Dense Soda Ash — Particle Size Distribution

Sieve grading for the dense granular product, the property that governs segregation and dusting in a glass furnace batch house.

Applications

Soda ash is the highest-tonnage alkali in industry — the dense grade goes to glass, the light grade to chemicals and detergents.

Flat & Container Glass

Primary flux in float, bottle and jar furnaces.

Detergents & Cleaners

Builder and alkalinity source in household and industrial formulations.

Chemical Manufacturing

Feedstock for sodium silicate, nitrate and bicarbonate.

Water Treatment

pH correction and carbonate hardness adjustment.

Metallurgy & Non-Ferrous

Slag conditioning, lead refining and zinc extraction.

Pulp & Paper

Alkali make-up in pulping and de-inking.

Petrochemical & Refining

Acid gas neutralization and drilling-fluid alkalinity.

Ceramics & Glaze

Flux and deflocculant in tile and sanitaryware bodies.

Sugar Refining

Juice carbonatation and pH control.

Packaging, Logistics & Trading Terms

How we bag, certify and ship bulk soda ash. Terms can be adapted by agreement — tell us what your operation needs.

Minimum Order Quantity
1 × 20 ft container (approx. 25 MT) bagged. 500 MT minimum for bulk vessel. Trial quantities available for qualification.
Packaging
Light grade: 25 kg, 50 kg, 700 kg and 1500 kg PP bags. Dense grade: 25 kg, 50 kg, 1000 kg and 1500 kg PP bags. Bulk loading on request.
Incoterms & Loading Ports
EXW, FOB, CFR and CIF (Incoterms® 2020). Standard loading at Bandar Abbas and Bandar Imam Khomeini; other ports by arrangement.
Quality Certification
Batch-specific CoA with every shipment covering alkalinity, NaCl, iron, insolubles and bulk density. SGS / Bureau Veritas inspection at buyer’s cost.
Lead Time
7–14 days for standard grades after order confirmation; 15–25 days for custom-milled or specially packed material.
Storage & Handling
Store in a cool, dry, tightly closed container away from acids. Soda ash is hygroscopic — keep bags sealed and off the ground to prevent caking.

Certificate of Analysis

A batch-specific CoA is issued with every shipment. Third-party inspection by SGS, Bureau Veritas or an inspector of your choice can be arranged at the buyer’s cost.

Soda Ash — Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between dense and light soda ash?
The chemistry is identical — both run at minimum 99.2% Na₂CO₃. The difference is bulk density: dense soda ash is 0.85–1.1 g/cm³ and granular, which resists dusting and segregation in a glass furnace batch house. Light soda ash is 0.45–0.65 g/cm³ and a fine powder, which dissolves faster and is preferred in detergents, chemical synthesis and water treatment.
What purity and iron content do you guarantee?
Alkalinity as Na₂CO₃ is minimum 99.2%, chloride as NaCl maximum 0.4%, iron maximum 0.004% (30–50 ppm) and water insolubles maximum 0.1%. Low iron matters for clear glass, so the figure is reported on every Certificate of Analysis.
Which standard is your soda ash produced to?
ISIRI 614-1. On request we can also confirm conformity against your own works standard or a customer specification before shipment.
What packaging is available for soda ash?
Light grade in 25 kg, 50 kg, 700 kg and 1500 kg PP bags; dense grade in 25 kg, 50 kg, 1000 kg and 1500 kg PP bags. Bulk vessel loading is available for large tonnages. Because soda ash is hygroscopic, we recommend moisture-barrier liners for humid destinations.
How should soda ash be stored?
In a cool, dry place, in tightly closed bags, away from acids and away from direct contact with the floor. Soda ash absorbs moisture from the air, which causes caking and slowly converts the surface to bicarbonate. Correctly stored, it has no practical shelf-life limit.
What is the minimum order quantity for soda ash?
One 20 ft container, approximately 25 MT, for bagged material. Bulk vessel shipments start at 500 MT. Trial quantities can be arranged so you can qualify the material before a full order.
